Geltian - People of Geltlund

Also called Nordlanders by many of the people in the southern parts of Hakur these poweful men are larger than most people are living in the mountains and cold climate of the north. Durring the Age of the Barbarian Horde these people were quite simple and lived in crude stone huts, and sometimes made homes in the caves that dot the mountains. Over time they gathered together and formed larger towns and cities battling the elements, and evil creatures together. Always working with their neighbors these humans formed a kingdom before most of the other groups of man.

This kingdom has always more loosely affiliated then the kingdoms of other nations with seperate clans, lead by Low Kings that swear fealty to the High King.

Durring the Age of Ascension they were one of the few groups to not fall under the sway of the Camen which is a testament to their battle prowess.

Geltlanders are found in the northern nations of Western Hakur.

General Appearance

Standing a whole head above most men the average Getlian wears several thick layers of clothing, including many furs to keep out the cold. There sometimes course and rough looking outfits are actually quite warm and comfortable. Adorned with large belts their buckles show off ones battle prowess and station among the other members of their communities.

With hair that ranges from a fiery red, to a rich brown, which they wear long and mostly unkempt. Most Geltians have green, or blue colored eyes. Their faces are commonly covered in thick sometimes braided beards, they are sometimes called Giant Dwarfs, for their love of good drink, and large amounts of food.

Social Structure

Living in the sometimes harsh Northern Reaches, Geltlunders have come to place family ties and clan ties above almost everything else. They know that working alone against the elements and the dangers of the world will be their undoing.

Favored Classes

Geltians favor the Barbarian, Fighter, Cleric, Bard (Skald) and Ranger classes.

Special Rules:

Players of Geltian characters are encouraged to come up with a history and the names and primary tasks of certain members within their own clan as part of the character's history. A Geltian that is far from home is considered to have completed their rites of passage, but has a need to see the rest of the world and bring back what they see for their Clan. In his/her travels it is not uncommon for a Geltian to create a temporary "clan" made up of any companions who he/she travels with. This temporary "clan" may become as important as his/her true clan depending upon how things work out.

Knowledge: For purposes of knowing about their own clan and its history, a Geltlunder is assumed to have INT as a prime for this one limited scope topic. This simulates the regular storytelling that Geltian Bards tell of their own clan at the regular get togethers. This by no means makes it possible for a non-Bard character to belt out a perfect rendition of some event in their clan history, it simply means they may know something about certain key clan events.
