These are the oldest living of the Elven people, with some members being as old as the existence of their people. It is rumored that they simply never die, but one day choose to move on to another land. They are on good terms with their Elven cousins, the Sun Elves and have been known to have very loose ties with the White, or Snow Elves. The Grey Elves deem themselves the wisest and most knowledgeable of all the incarnations of man and thus carry an air of superiority about them, that hasn't won them many friends amongst the various kingdoms of man.
General Appearance
The average Grey Elf stands a whole head taller then an average man and is thin and wiry. Their faces are longer then the faces of the Sun Elves, which also lends to their appearance of aloofness often associated with their people. The eyes are the common almond shape common to the Elven people with colors ranging from a light grey to almost silver coloration.
Grey Elves, dress in a reserved fashion, when compared to their more aloof cousins, the Sun Elves. Their common clothes are made from fine wools woven into a fabric that is so fine, that one doesn't feel the normal scratchiness attributed to even the best wools of Man. Their clothes are functional and beautiful with the wool woven into intricate patterns that sometimes even appear to shimmer in the light.
Recent History
The recent events of the world are but a blink of an eye to Elder High Elves, who have lived long enough to remember the first time they met the gods as human. To the Grey Elves, the more things change, the more things stay the same. In the past 500 years the High Elves have begun to see that man is once again reaching towards the onetime pinacle of development, as they had before. This has caused much worry and consternation amongst the Elder High Elf Lords, for they fear that a time will soon approach where the gods will once again walk the land and tear everything asunder.
In the past, this caused the High Elves to lose much of the historical information that they had spent centuries gathering and writing. The cataclysm also severely shrank their numbers. For this, the High Council does not wish to see this happen, ever again.
Social Structure
They are reserved in ther mannerisms and many find it difficult to read the emotions in the often cold temperance of a Grey Elf. It is said, that these elves laugh but once in a decade and smile but once a year and to be the one that brings a smile or a laugh from a Grey Elf is a sign of good luck. To carry the good favor of a Grey Elf, is to carry an unending friendship until the day one leaves their mortal coil.
Favored Classes
Grey Elves favor the following classes: Wizard, Illusionist, Elven Arcane Blade, Fighter, Knight, Paladin
Racial Traits and Abilities:
Long Life: Grey Elves are effectively immortal. They do not age as other races of man, although they do bleed if cut and can die from the same traumas that can kill other races of man. They take their immortality as very serious business as they are the timeless eyes who record and bear witness the history and growth of their world.
Eating and Drinking: A part of their immortality is a significant difference in nutrition requirements, compared to other races of man. These immortals can go dozens of years without having a single morsel of food pass their lips or a solitary drop of liquid quench a thirst. Some say this is because of their connection to their gods, while others say it is because their meals are so perfect, their wines so magnificient that a single meal is enough to carry them through until the next time they sit to eat.
Enhanced Senses: Used to the quiet solitude of their libraries High Elves are able to detect sounds that other races of man may find difficult to detect, while nowhere near as good at detecting sound as a Sun Elf, this ability confers a +2 bonus to all listen checks.
Spot Hidden Doors (Wisdom): Spending most of their time singularly focused on the details has given the High Elves exceptional eyesight. Thus, they receive a +4 Bonus to detecting hidden doors. The rest remains the same as in the C&C Player's Handbook.
Recall History (Intelligence): Acting as the eyes of the unfolding history of the world has provided the High Elves with a vast repository of historical information about most of the world. With this a High Elf recieves a +2 bonus to any attempts to recall a story about a given location or item.
Ability Modification: Spending all of their time pouring over books, writing notes and dryly observing happenings, High Elves receive a +2 to Intelligence. Due to their rather limited social skills High Elves have a -1 to Charisma and a -1 to Constitution due to their slender builds.
Spell Resistances: This is the same as the Elf entry in the C&C Player's Handbook.
Twilight Vision: This is the same as the Elf entry in the C&C Player's Handbook.
Languages: Hakurian Trade Tongue, High Elven, Old Thorsic, Old Kaimish
Weapon Training: Same as the Elf entry in the C&C PHB.
