Hesponian

The Hesponian people have a romantic streak within them that flows forth in their rich poetry, vibrant music and tales of love and life. While they rarely strive to entertain, it is their nature to tell tales, recite poetry, play music and even sing. Of course, having a love for something and being a world class expert at it are far from the same thing. The few Hesponians that are exceptional in these skills often become well known across the countryside and there are times when they can fill a theatre for days upon days from surrounding villages and towns.

No matter who the Hesponian is, almost all Hesponians value their family above all else. Sometimes this can lead to personal tragedy as told in the tale of Rufino and Juanita, two star crossed lovers whose families were at odds who each ended up marrying someone they didn't truly love to hold their families together.

General Appearance

Most Hesponians have hair that is a rich black that many woman often wear in long flowing styles that is typically anywhere from just past their shoulders to at least the middle of their back. Many Hesponian males wear their hair similar to their close friends, the Low Dwarves and many also sport similar facial hair.

Traveling adventurers and swashbuckling types tend to wear clothing that won't hinder movement, which tends towards either comfortably snug and sometimes slightly loose clothing.

Recent History

At the end of the last great war, the Wardens of Hesponia, along with the leaders of other kingdoms and empires quickly worked at building what would be called "The Wall of Man". This amazing feat of construction is a massive wall that stretches from the foot of the mountain range seperating Ork-Ell from Hesponia and Selense to the cliffs facing the Altaris Ocean.

Manned primarily by Hesponians, the wall is lined with numerous fortresses and three large fortresses that house defenders from the Kingdom of Selense, The Holy Camen Empire and Angland. At times the walls and fortresses are under a constant, futile goblinoid attack with breaks that can last anywhere from a few days to several weeks and even decades.

For over 250 years, the Wall of Man has held strong, defending all of Man from incursions of the Orc Armies.

Social Structure

The people are lead by men and woman with the title of Warden. All of the Wardens serve the High Warden who is elected from among the other Wardens to lead after a period of 15 years. There is no limit upon the number of times a Warden can be elected and there are also no terms on the limit a Warden can be named High Warden.
